Denean Stephens-Spellman
Principal
As an educator with over 25 years of experience I have had the pleasure of serving students at each educational level. Elementary education has always been, by far, the most rewarding.
I believe that acquiring a solid education is the best way for a child to improve his or her life. I work to provide the children and families of my community with educational opportunities and experiences that are rich and challenging. I hope to inspire my students and staff to work tirelessly, overcome obstacles, try new experiences, and never be afraid to make a mistake. Mistakes help us to learn and grow.

I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I was in the fourth grade. As the principal of the Langston Hughes School, I get to be a teacher and a student. I am living my dream!
JANICE SYDNEY-SMITH
Assistant Principal
I joined the P.S. 233 family 20 years ago as a fifth grade teacher. I also taught a second grade S.O.A.R. class and served as the Literacy Coach. I am thrilled to now serve as our Assistant Principal! I greatly enjoy working with Ms. Spellman, our wonderful staff, students, families, and the wider community. Working collaboratively, we strive everyday to provide our students the very best education, and to prepare them for successful, productive, fulfilling lives.
